Data Visualization
Client: Best Danish Book Design (Årets Bedste Bogarbejde)
Role: Editorial Design, Data Visualization
Collaborators: Lucca Ejby Wilhjelm
Year: 2025
Our brief was simple: create a data visualisation based on Best Danish Book Design (Årets Bedste Bogarbejde). We became curious about the words behind the awards. Every year, the jury explains why a book won, and we wondered whether the same words kept coming back.
So we built our own dataset. We gathered every jury statement from 2007 to 2025 and pulled out the 100 words used most often, sorting them into the jury’s three criteria: aesthetics, function and technical execution.
The result is a physical publication that traces how these words appear, repeat and shift over almost two decades, and asks whether there is a hidden recipe for award-winning book design.
